Emergency Mini-Grants

In March, Slow Food Huron Valley allocated funds and also accepted donations to award COVID-19 rapid response emergency funds to local farms and food businesses. These mini-grants were intended to help some through this difficult time.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, we realize that farmers and food businesses in the greater Washtenaw County foodshed are experiencing financial hardship while unable to access their regular markets in SE Michigan.

Slow Food Huron Valley (SFHV) is a 501(c)3 chapter of Slow Food USA and is located in southeastern Michigan. We are an all-volunteer chapter with no paid staff. All funds raised will be distributed back out to our food community through a series of calls for requests. The first call for requests will be for emergency cash infusions for those in urgent scenarios. Additional calls for requests will attempt to encourage collaboration, cooperation, aggregation, and alternative farm-to-door models. All requests will be reviewed by a committee of community stakeholders.
